Nexudus through the ages: A platform retrospective
This week we are celebrating 10 years since Nexudus first started. We can’t believe it’s already been a decade since founders, Adrian and Carlos, first started working on what was then known as Nexudus Spaces.
Since it is such a significant landmark for us, what better time is there to take a look back and see how far we have come since the first iteration of Nexudus all those years ago? Here at Nexudus we don’t like to sit on our laurels, and have never once thought that the Nexudus Platform is ‘complete’.
This article will show you how we view Nexudus as being in a constant state of evolution, as it changes year on year and even month by month, to adapt and meet the ever-changing needs of our clients.
Before we look at how different aspects of the Nexudus platform have developed over the years, we first need to say a huge thank you to all of our clients. So many of the innovations we have made over the years have come from suggestions made by those who use Nexudus on a daily basis to run their workspaces. Every update is made with the needs of our users in mind at every stage, and we can’t wait to continue this close working relationship to evolve the platform further over the coming years.
So, without further ado, let’s dive in and take a look at Nexudus through the ages.
Data and reporting:
One area which we feel has developed massively over the past decade is the data and reporting that the platform offers users of Nexudus. Over the past 10 years, the importance of having meaningful data and insights into how your business is performing has become more and more significant.
When we first started Nexudus, the data and reporting features were far less in-depth and developed than they are today.
As you can see in the above image, early versions of the Nexudus platform were able to give you information about orders, bookings and other key metrics as to space performance. While this was and remains very important information, skipping forward to today, Nexudus’ ability to provide you with unrivaled insights goes far beyond the standard graphs and charts we started off with.
One of the big introductions we made was Nexudus Explore, which gives users much more detailed and varied insights into the performance of their workspace. Not only this, but the highly visual presentation and customisable dashboards give you significantly more freedom in how you display the insights that matter most to you.
Even more recently, just a couple of months ago, we released one of the most significant innovations for some time with the introduction of the Insights and Trends dashboard. This was a real game changer for us, as it was our first significant foray into leveraging AI.
This new addition to the platform opens up a whole new way to view the performance of your space, and can even predict metrics such as occupancy and demand on a day-to-day basis, while also being able to dynamically alter your pricing based on this demand to ensure your rates stay as competitive as possible.
Making sure Nexudus provides best-in-class reporting tools is very important for us, as we recognise how important these tools are to ensure coworking and flex workspaces are running as efficiently as possible.
As with all aspects of the platform, we will continue to develop and refine these features in the coming years to ensure our users always have the most sophisticated tools at their disposal.
Bookings and reservations
Obviously, a workspace management system cannot be complete without a functioning booking and reservation system, which is why we have always focussed our efforts to make this as intuitive to use as possible.
When we first started Nexudus, the booking system was very different to the one we have in place today in terms of how it looked. Now we have so many different ways for you to display availability in your workspace.
Compare the above image to the integration we have with Archilogic, whose 3D floor plans give those looking to make bookings in your space a fully immersive experience. This is just one example of the numerous systems we integrate with. Flexibility is at the heart of our ethos, allowing our users to access and integrate with all the tools they love most.
Even the floor plans available natively on the Nexudus platform are a massive step-up from how they were when Nexudus was first launched way back in 2012. You can now import your own floorplans, giving your members a sense of where they are booking resources and how busy certain floors and areas are.
Passport App
Our Passport App has been through a number of different changes since it was first released. We are currently on version 3 of the app, which was released just a couple of months ago.
As we live in an increasingly mobile world, it’s vital to provide Nexudus users with the ability to interact in whatever way they feel works best for them. This means that, for example, it should be just as easy for workspace users to book meetings on the mobile app as it is to book on a desktop or browser.
Something that has been a key aspect of Nexudus since it was first set up was the option to make it fully white label. We always wanted to ensure that if companies want, they are able to display all their own branding. This is certainly true with the Passport app, which can be customised to fit your brand.
Members’ Portal
The Nexudus Members’ Portal has been another key area of development for Nexudus over the past 10 years. The massive benefit of coworking and flexible workspaces is that they provide an opportunity for members to interact and collaborate in a way that traditional office spaces just don’t allow.
Finding innovative and engaging ways of facilitating this has been crucial for the Nexudus team, and like all other areas of the platform, it is in a constant state of development. While we have always included the basics in the Member’s Portal, such as booking and reservation systems, and ways for space operators to communicate with their membership base, there were significant developments, driven in no small part by the global pandemic.
During the height of the pandemic, with many workspaces being unable to host their members, it was important that we were able to facilitate the ongoing collaboration and sense of community that makes coworking and flex workspaces so special. This is why we introduced features such as our integration with Jitsi, allowing always-on virtual rooms to provide a space for members to catch up and socialize.
In the same way that the Passport app can be customised to fit your branding, the Members’ Portal can be as well. Customers can choose to customise the Portal to a greater or lesser extent, with some putting together incredibly creative and individualised designs.
As you can see, the Nexudus platform has come an awful long way in the 10 years since it was first launched. A cornerstone of the way we go about innovations on the Nexudus Platform is by listening to our customer base. These are the people that are running workspaces on a daily basis and know best the pain points that need to be addressed. We are very proud of the relationship we have with our customers. As was mentioned by Sam Hulls, Head of Collaboration at The Melting Pot - one of the longest-running coworking spaces in the world - one reason they have remained as Nexudus customers for so many years is: “the responsiveness and being so open to feedback, ideas and input”.
Finally, we just wanted to reiterate how grateful we are to all our customers, and we are excited to see what the next 10 years bring. As ever, we will continue to innovate and evolve along with this amazing and fast-growing industry.
